Martha (Marty) June Ison, McCoy, Watson
February 17, 1939 – July 25, 2014

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Spirit of Life Church, 3737 North Raceway Road, Indianapolis, 46234. Visitation starting at 4:30 p.m. Her dedication and faith to the Lord was a testament to how she lived her life. You may visit her on-line guestbook at www.indianafuneralcare.com

Marty was born in Hot Spot, Kentucky, the daughter of a coal-miner and his wife (James & Tiny Ison) who lived in the Appalachian Mountains. During her high-school years, she lived in Milan, Indiana where she became a nanny for Marge & Harlan Fuller’s five-year old daughter Donna Jean (DJ). She loved and excelled at school and she loved DJ like a sister. It was because of Harlan Fuller that Marty was able to go to nursing school where she graduated with a Registered Nursing degree.
Marty was an exceptional nurse and always excelled during her 30-year career. She helped and healed many patients during her life long after she retired as the head of the Plasmapheresis department where she was on the groundbreaking floor of this new procedure separating blood and plasma cells to help cancer and leukemia patients extend their lives.

Marty is survived by her two sisters, Ailleen Collins & Sheila Johnson, and her two daughters, Robin McCoy and Toni (McCoy) Hasankhani. She has one granddaughter from Robin – Ryann Backus and three great-grandchildren, Layne, Spencer, and Charlotte. She has two grandchildren from Toni – Antonio Hasankhani and Caley Hasankhani. Marty dedicated her life to her family and was always there for them.

Marty was also very dedicated to the Lord and her faith was how she lived her life. She personally brought hundreds of people to the Lord and experienced several miracles of healing in her life. Marty also opened her heart and home to those in need.

Marty will be loved and missed for eternity.

Marty had been one of my very best friends for many years.
I am missing her now more than words can express.
We used to be neighbors and took many daily walks.
She and I had many friends in common and we all had fun times together.
She is a wonderful person, I am missing her now.

My prayers to Robin & Toni … and my thanks to Aunt Marty for all the prayers she prayed for me and my family. I’ve heard it said that our prayers will go on long after we’ve gone. I do know that God honors the prayers of His children and I believe Marty was one of them. Marty, you will be missed by all who knew you; by everyone who loved you and by those who cared for you. May the Lord give comfort to those who mourn and may He, on behalf of Marty, bring to saving faith those who don’t yet know Him.

I went to school and graduated with Marty in Milan. We also went to Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing together. She had not came to the last Reunions we have had, so have not seen her for 30 years. We had some good times together. My sincere Sympathy goes out to all her family. Joan Fidler
